Improved Parameterization of Carbon Cycle Models Across Scales Using OCO-2 Measurements of XCO2 and SIF. NASA, 2015-2018. (Co-I, PI: Sean Crowell, University of Oklahoma)

This project will use OCO-2 retrievals of XCO2 and SIF to provide separate estimates of NEE and GPP, which, combined with existing data products of global standing biomass and soil organic carbon, will be used to improve the terrestrial ecosystem dynamics within a carbon cycle model. A by-product is an assessment of the physical consistency of SIF and XCO2 retrievals. The resulting calibrated land carbon model will produce optimized fluxes that atmospheric transport models will verify simulated concentrations against independent atmospheric observations.
